International Association of Facilitators

About us

IAF is a professional association for facilitators, with members in more than
65 countries. Created in 1994, we have a rich history of participatory
development and continue to learn and grow, fueled by the energy and
passion of our members around the world.

What do we do?

We set internationally accepted industry values, ethics, and core competencies for effective facilitation.
We endorse and certify our members, support an active community of practice, and advocate for the power of facilitation

While we focus on process facilitation, we are always interested in other perspectives and approaches.

What drives us

We know that while there is no single, universal approach to facilitation, there are certain values, ethics, skills, and actions that reinforce effective practice. We drew on the experience and expertise of our members and distilled these key attributes of credible and effective facilitation into the IAF Statement of Values and Code of Ethics and the IAF Core Competencies.

These essential documents are the cornerstone of everything we do and the foundation for all of our professional designations.
